Former NFL Wide Receiver Mike Williams Passes Away at 36

Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams, known for his time with the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tragically passed away on Tuesday. The 36-year-old athlete sustained injuries earlier this month while working at a construction site. The sad news was confirmed by his agent, Hadley Engelhard, who shared the details with NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Williams had an impressive career that spanned from 2010 to 2014, with the majority of his time spent with the Buccaneers before concluding his final season with the Buffalo Bills, his hometown team. Over the course of his five-year NFL career, he participated in a total of 63 games, leaving a lasting impact on the field.

During his time in the NFL, Williams showcased his talent with 223 catches for a total of 3,089 yards and an impressive 26 touchdowns. His journey to the NFL began when he was selected by the Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

One of the standout moments in Williams’ career was in 2010 when he burst into the spotlight, finishing second in the Associated Press poll for Offensive Rookie of the Year, narrowly trailing behind then-St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford. That season, the talented wide receiver recorded 65 catches for an impressive 964 yards and 11 touchdowns, while starting in all 16 games. He continued to shine in 2012, producing nine touchdowns and 996 yards, showcasing his consistent performance.

Unfortunately, injuries disrupted Williams’ 2013 season, leading to his eventual trade from the Buccaneers to the Buffalo Bills. He spent his final NFL season with the Bills before briefly joining the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mike Williams’ passing is a somber moment for the NFL community, as he will be remembered not only for his on-field talent but also for his contribution to the game. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
